Onion and Apple Pie




Ingredients:

baking powder
butter, unsalted
eggs
Salt
margarine, unsalted
Spanish onion
pepper, salt
Nutmeg
apple
majoran
egg yolks
milk

Serves 6 - 450 cal per serving
Prep-time: 30 min. - Total-time: 60 min.
Combine flour, baking powder, butter, egg and salt and knead to make a smooth shortcrust pastry. Roll out on a floured board and line the base and sides of a pie form. Heat the margarine in a pan and fry the diced onions. Season with freshly ground pepper, salt and nutmeg. Peel ,core and grate the apples. Mix with the onions. Chop fresh majoran and add to the onions. If you use dried majoran 1 teaspoon will be enough. Pour the onion mixture onto the pastry. Beat the egg yolks and milk together and season with pepper, salt and nutmeg. Pour over the onions. Heat the oven to 220 C/ 425 F and bake on a middle rack for approx. 25 minutes. Serve while still hot.
