Bavarian Cabbage

250 ml / 8 fl. Oz
1 tbsp

white cabbage
pork lard
meat broth
white vine vinegar
Caraway seeds

Serves 3 - 200 cal per serving
Prep-time: 15 min. - Total-time: 45 min.
Cut the cabbage into thin slices and dice the bacon. Heat the lard in a casserole and fry the bacon until crisp. Stir in the sugar and allow to caramelise. Add the cabbage and fry for a few minutes. Pour in the broth and vinegar, add the caraway seeds, then cover the casserole and simmer for approx. 20 min. Uncover and continue to cook for another 5 minutes until the cabbage is soft and the liquid has evaporated. Stir occasionally to avoid burning the cabbage. Season lightly with salt.
