This recipe for butter buttons is a quick and easy cookie recipe. Pre-heat the oven to 175 C / 350 F. Combine soft unsalted butter and powdered sugar. Mix flour with starch flour and vanilla sugar; add to the butter mix and knead. On a slightly floured work space form the dough into a thick roll and evenly cut the roll into 3 parts. Form each part into a 1.5 cm / 0.6 inch thick roll and cut into 1.5 cm / 0.6 inch slices. Line baking tray with parchment paper. Form the slices into balls and put on the baking tray. Leaving enough distance between each of the cookies as they will rise during baking. Using a fork slightly flatten the cookies. Dipping the fork in between in flour will prevent the dough from sticking to the fork. Bake on the middle rung for about 10 minutes at 175 C / 350 F. The cookies should be light in color. Let cool on a baking rack.
